Overwatch is a force protection tactic in modern warfare where a sniper supports units executing fire and movement tactics. An overwatching Sniper takes a position where he or she can observe the terrain ahead, especially likely enemy positions. This allows the sniper to provide effective covering fire for advancing friendly units.
